Our gallery exhibits and sells work in a wide range of media with a focus on painting, mixed media, photography and sculpture. We represent over 100 diverse artists, both established and emerging from across the US and around the world. Gallery 1871 mounts six themed exhibitions each year and is open to the public five days a week.

Featured Artist: Cynthia Bjorn

Cynthia Bjorn is an American artist from Kansas City, Missouri. She has been working as a visual artist for the last 9 years and has been working in the creative field for over 35 years. Bjorn received a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1986 and furthered her expertise by working with master artists and continuing graduate studies at the University of Missouri KC. Bjorn's paintings have been described as a clash between chaos and calm. She developed her own style of meditative mark-making after a transition from oil paint to acrylic. Through her need to self-express and master the medium, her work expresses a personal voice in contemporary art. Bjorn is represented by gallery 1871 in Chicago, Weinberger Fine Arts in Kansas City and Artful Sol in Vail, Colorado. Her paintings are in both public and private collections across the United States.
